Inside Saigon ITO
The General Planning Department

25/10/2026

Hello everyone!

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the ITO English Challenge with two of my colleagues from the General Planning Department.

It was a great experience, as we not only had the chance to practice our English skills but also to share a closer look at the work we do in our department.

So now, I’d like to share our team’s presentation as a way to preserve this memorable experience.

Meet Our Team

We are from the General Planning Department at Saigon ITO Hospital.

Our team consists of three members: Dr. Ha, our Deputy Head of Department; Gia Minh, a member of the Quality Management Team; and myself, Dr. Hanh, a staff member of the General Planning Department

We’d like to share our perspective on ITO hospital through two main topics:
First, our department’s role and daily operations.
Second, the recent milestones we’ve contributed to.

So, let’s start with a look behind the scenes.

Behind the Scenes

Every day, across our clinical departments, we see nurses moving quickly from one patient to another, surgeons fully focused in the operating room, and hear the urgent sound of ambulance sirens.

Together, these sights and sounds create the busy atmosphere of a hospital.

But that’s only what we usually see on the surface. Just like an iceberg, there’s so much more happening underneath.

What we can easily see and what we see less in a hospital

Beneath the surface, many other activities are taking place quietly:

  • Managing medical records
  • Providing IT support
  • Monitoring quality
  • Ect

And our General Planning Department is one of the teams helping to connect, coordinate, and monitor these activities.

Our Daily Work

So, how do we organize our work?

Our responsibilities cover a wide range of activities, from developing plans and coordinating medical operations to monitoring compliance, and supporting quality improvement.

Together, these activities form a continuous six-step process, as shown here.

The six-step process of our daily work

What’s interesting about our work is that, instead of following the recovery of individual patients, we have the opportunity to follow the progress and improvement of an entire hospital system.

And in 2026, we were proud to contribute to two remarkable milestones: achieving AACI international accreditation and launching national health insurance services.

Launching national health insurance services

Our goal was to give more patients access to health insurance benefits, while also building trust and supporting the hospital’s growth.

We began preparing in mid-March 2026.

For more than three months, the General Planning Department worked closely with other departments to make detailed plans, assign tasks, complete required documents and medical service lists, and upgrade our hospital information system to meet health insurance requirements.

Preparation and team meetings

One of our biggest challenges was making sure that everything followed the regulations, to reduce mistakes and risks in health insurance payments.

And finally, on July 1st, 2026, our hospital officially started providing services covered by national health insurance.

In just three months, the hospital received 6,794 health insurance patient visits, with a total revenue of VND 63 billion and over VND 15 billion paid by health insurance.

But beyond these numbers, the most meaningful result is that more patients can now access our services, face less financial pressure, and feel more secure about their treatment, especially those with serious conditions and high medical costs.

This is a milestone we are truly proud to have contributed to.

Achieving AACI international accreditation

Continuing SAIGON-ITO’s journey of development, we are proud to share another significant milestone: our journey toward achieving AACI International Accreditation.

With the goal of enhancing healthcare quality and patient safety in accordance with international standards, under the guidance of the Hospital Leadership, the Quality Management Unit collaborated closely with all departments to review and standardize procedures, establish a risk management system, and implement periodic assessments.

AACI International Accreditation

On January 17, 2026, SAIGON-ITO officially held a ceremony to announce its achievement of AACI International Accreditation, marking a significant step forward in the hospital’s continuous journey toward quality improvement.

Together, We Move Forward

Looking back at these two journeys, we’ve come to realize that behind every achievement is not just one person or one department, but the collective effort of an entire team.

We’re proud to have contributed to Saigon ITO’s progress and to be part of its 25-year journey.

Thank you!
